Resilience and Self-Care Basics for Helping Professionals

Resilience is generally defined as the ability to overcome difficulty. Self-care is often thought of as the strategies that help build resiliency. This course presents the basic, introductory tenants for how to define, practice, and maintain resiliency and self-care strategies as a helping professional. This is a 1.5-hour/credit course that overviews the stress response, resilience, and self-care; presents concrete “inner” awareness resiliency skills, and offers an introduction for making self-care strategies stick. This course is a must for any helping professional. In order to best do our jobs, we must tend to ourselves.
